Dr. Chris McDaniel
Dr. Chris McDaniel joined his father at the Hartland Smilemakers in 1999. A graduate of Southfield Christian High School, he went on to study at Calvin College and the University of Michigan Dental School, where he earned his DDS, graduating seventh in his class. Dr. Chris has taken numerous classes in Crown & Bridge, Implant Placement and Restorations. He has been an active BNI (Business Networking International) member in the Hartland Chapter since 2003. Dr. Chris and his wife, Betsy, have two boys, Trevor and Connor. Raising a family and actively serving in the church and community is very important to both of them. He coaches both of his son’s basketball teams and enjoys skiing with them as much as possible.
Dr. Ryan Miller
Dr. Ryan Miller joined the Hartland Smilemakers in 2007. He was born oversees on an American Army base in Germany. When he was three years old, his family moved back to Michigan where he grew up working in his father's dental office. He graduated from Birmingham Groves High School and then attended the University of Michigan. He graduated with honors from the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School in May of 2005 and married his longtime girlfriend, Candice. They live and raise their two children, a son and daughter, locally here in Hartland. Dr. Ryan has won awards in the fields of Crown and Bridge Dentistry, Periodontal Surgery, Implants and Removable Dentures. Through continued education, he has expanded his dental expertise to provide Orthodontia for all his patients, which includes traditional braces, invisible braces and early childhood treatment. When Dr. Ryan isn’t working he enjoys spending time with family, working on his house, soccer and water skiing.
Dr. Ken McDaniel
Dr. Ken McDaniel began practicing dentistry in Hartland, Michigan in 1975. I grew up in Livonia and am a graduate of Detroit Catholic Central High School. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Detroit, and my DDS at the University of Michigan Dental School where I graduated with high honors and was a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society . Prior to setting up a practice, I served as a dentist in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. My wife, Jane, and I are the parents of three sons: Tim, Chris, and Jonathan. We are also the proud grandparents of five grandkids. The VINA Clinic in Brighton is appreciative of the time I have volunteered to help them. I was also part of a team that helped both an orphanage in Guatemala and the underprivileged in Detroit. I have also worked with the Mission of Mercy. I enjoy golf and continue to be active in community and church activities.
Our managers work behind the scenes, along with Dr. Chris, Dr. Ryan and Dr. Ken, to ensure that the office runs smoothly to meet our patient’s and employee’s needs.
Karolyn - I joined the Hartland Smilemakers in 1999. I enjoy spending time with my family, being outside, music, sewing and sports. Being part of the management team, I assist the doctors in the day to day needs of the office and staff.
Michelle – I joined the Hartland Smilemakers when I moved back to the area in 2002. I help the doctors in the everyday running of our office. I love what I do and enjoy the interaction with the patients and staff. My hobbies include horseback riding, travel, friends and family (especially the grandkids), and the great outdoors.
Our dental hygienists help to maintain healthy teeth and gums. By educating patients on how to obtain optimal oral health, the patients can achieve a goal of improved over-all health along with a healthy smile.
BJ – I joined the Hartland Smilemakers in December 1978. I grew up in Howell and moved to White Lake in 1981 after getting married. As a dental hygienist with the Smilemakers, I clean and polish teeth and also help educate my patients with their overall health. In my spare time I enjoy reading, boating and am a big sports fan.
Kim L . – I joined the Hartland Smilemakers' team in May of 1990. I have lived in the Hartland area since 1977 and enjoy serving this community. As a Registered Dental Hygienist of the Hartland Smilemakers, I clean and polish the teeth and educate my patients in oral health for optimal overall health. I work hard at making your visits comfortable and fun (I love to laugh). When not in the office, I love spending time with my family and friends, playing golf and volunteering.
Kim F . – I joined the Hartland Smilemakers in 1998. I have two children who go to Hartland schools and are involved in sports. I love getting to know my patients personally as well as taking care of their dental health. My interests include spending time with family, gardening and watching my kids play sports while socializing with the wonderful families.
Tiffany: I'm excited to be a member of the Hartland Smilemakers. Since graduating from the University of Michigan, I have enjoyed my career as a dental hygienist. I strive to deliver the most comfortable experience that I can for all patients. I have lived in Hartland for 16 years with my husband and 3 daughters. I enjoy camping with my family & travelling.
Shannon – I am a hygienist at Hartland Smilemakers. When a person comes to see me, they can expect me to clean and remove stain from their teeth. More importantly, I will evaluate a person's oral health with the help of x-rays, intra-oral camera and various measurements. Then I work with a person to develop a plan to help that person reach optimum oral health.
Dental Assistant Team:
Our dental assistants are a vital member of the dental health team. They help to make the patient as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, preparing them for treatment and assisting the dentist chair side.
Loreé - I joined the Hartland Smilemaker team in 1989. I enjoy many activities with my husband and sons involving sports/ hunting and church activities. I love to bake and cook! Keep smiling!
Lori - I am a dental assistant and joined the Hartland Smilemakers in 2003. I enjoy spending time with my family and all my animals, camping and bonfires. I try to make people feel at home and reassure them we will be able to take care of all their concerns.
Amanda - I joined the Hartland Smilemakers in 2014. I am very active in my church and spend most of my free time preparing for different church activities. I am a dental assistant. I love assisting on orthodontics and working on children. It is very important to me to make sure children are comfortable and understand what is going on.
Shayna - I joined the Hartland Smilemakers in 2014. When I am not at work I love summer and spending time on the boat. I love animals and being with my family and friends.
Krista - I am a dental assistant and joined the Hartland Smilemakers in December, 2015. I graduated from Northwood University. I love spending time with my family and friends.
Front Desk Team:
Our front desk staff assists the patient with all their business needs. Your first contact begins with them, where they will attend to your appointment and financial needs from start to finish.
Karen - I've been with the Hartland Smilemakers since 1997. I love hanging out with my hubby, golfing, boating, travelling in the U.P., playing with the grandchildren and spending time with family and friends. I love what I do! Our patients are the best and make it easy to smile everyday!
Beth - I joined the Hartland Smilemakers in 1999. I enjoy spending time with my family, working/training my dogs, raising animals, outdoor activities, gardening and traveling. As a member of the Front Desk team, my smile is one of the first you will see upon entering the office and one of the last when your visit has ended. I look forward to meeting you as well as attending to your appointment and financial needs.
Denise - I joined the Hartland Smilemakers in 2002. I work on marketing responsibilities and help cover at the front desk sometimes. I enjoy travelling, cake decorating, reading and being with family (especially my grandkids!).
